Beginner Pole Dancing Moves List

Cradle spin Cradle spin

Before you start with your first pole dancing moves, it is important to take a moment to learn how to properly hold the pole and how to position your shoulders so that your back muscles support your shoulders.

You might be tempted to skip this part, but don't. This is an important tip to stay healthy during your learning process.

Also take the time to understand how to walk properly around the pole.

It might seem very simple and obvious, but, in pole dancing, walking is a technique and this technique will help you a lot to understand how to use your body weight with gravity to control your speed. You will use this notion a lot when performing spins.

The beginner level introduce you to the dance moves, the spins, the climb, the slides, the sit and your first set of hand grips.

Remember that this is your base. Only on strong bases can we build strong buildings... So even if the more advanced moves seem tempting, allow your body to get strong enough for them. Learning how to do the beginner pole dancing moves properly will help you get there.

Be patient... You'll get there ;)

I am building a picture gallery where you visitors can add pictures too. You can go and have a look if you want to know how some of these moves look. I am constantly adding pictures to it so come back for a quick reference.

If you already know how to do some of these move, share your pictures with us and I'll add them to the gallery.

It is a young gallery so until it gets bigger, you can also go visit the Vertical Dance gallery, the Pole Dancing School gallery and the Wikipole pole move picture directory to see how those pole dance tricks look like.

Work on them and come back to show us your achievements.
