Flexibility Tips That Will Bring You Closer To Enlightenment
Tip #1- The Breath And Relax Attitude

The first of all the flexibility tips I want to share with you is at the very base of effective stretching. It will help you transform the pain sensations usually associated with flexibility into an healthy stretching sensation.

It might still feel uncomfortable to stretch at first, but keep with it. It will get better. Eventually, you will learn to appreciate and even enjoy stretching.

Adopt the Breath Relax attitude as one of your favourite flexibility tips!

Try this as you read it:

  • First step is to breath normally, but consciously. You need to know that you are breathing. Silently observe your breathing. Notice the air going in, notice the movement of your body, notice how it feels. Do the same thing when the air is going out.
  • Take a moment to notice that there is a short gap between your inhalation and your exhalation. But don't force it. Simply observe as you are breathing.
  • Next step is to take a moment to feel your body. How does it feel from inside? Is everything nice and relax? Scan your entire body to make sure every part is nice and relax.
  • When you find a part that feels a bit more tense ask it to relax. Yes... Ask it to relax!
  • Relax your muscles as you breath out completely.

And that's the Breath And Relax attitude!

Now use this attitude while you are stretching.

This time, it will be different because you probably won't have any problem to know how your muscles feel from inside. But you really need to take a hold of yourself and breath: Start breathing, notice where it hurts where you feel tension and relax that part.

Make sure you are supporting your body properly before relaxing the muscles you are stretching. By support, I mean make sure that you hold yourself, make sure that you hold your body up from the gravity pull.

You can do that with your arms pushing against the floor, by leaning on two chairs, one on each side of your body or you can even support yourself up by holding the pole. Your choice all depends on the stretch you are doing and the position you are in.

In a nutshell:

  • Support your body
  • Notice your breathing pattern
  • Breath out and...
  • Relax the muscles you will stretch
  • Now go deeper in your stretch by adjusting with how ever you are supporting yourself.

It's always easier for the body to relax the muscles when you breath out. So always try to go deeper in your stretch as you are breathing out.

Practice relaxing your muscles on commend.

If you have difficulty relaxing your muscles on commend, try this when you are not stretching:

  • Choose a part of your body and squeeze it as hard as you can.
  • Start to contract slowly, but contract hard for 5 seconds.
  • Now release the contraction.

You will immediately know how it feels to relax your muscles.

When you get good at this, try it without contracting your muscles beforehand.

Do this easy exercise with your legs, your feet, your arms, your hands, your face, your abdomen... With all your body parts!

It's a great way to relax quickly. If you do this right before sleeping, you will sleep deeper and you will feel even more refreshed the day after.

Other use of the Breath And Relax attitude

Performing is one important aspect of pole dancing. Even if, for you, it just means performing for your own camera... Performing makes most of us at least a little nervous.

This is one of the flexibility tips you should adopt as an attitude. Not an exercise... As an attitude you carry with you throughout the day. Do this and you will soon notice all the benefits this attitude can have on your life. This can truly bring you to enlightenment... No joke!
