Start with your hands lower to begin with, that way when you invert you wont have to hoist your hips so high to clear you hands. The higher your hands are the higher your hips need to be :)

lift by pushing your hips forward it should almost feel as though your thrusting at the pole your legs should grip above your hands that way and shouldnt get stuck :)
